I’m Yuri York, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to my photography website. Here, amidst a canvas of pixels, shadows and lights, I invite you to embark on a journey with me, where every click captures a story, a moment that will live in infamy.
Photography did not find me in the most unexpected of ways. There was no big bang moment, not a lightbulb flash in my mind. I can’t even remember the moment or the day I stumbled upon an old film camera, I am sure it was an old Soviet camera, as I played with cameras since I was a kid, not sure if it was the tech of it or if it was taking photos of the people in my life or places I’ve been to? Was I trying to capture something so important that I did not want to forget? I don’t know, I’m still looking for that answer, perhaps there is more than one. But since I remember myself I was fiddling with cameras.
What started as a curious exploration later in life blossomed into a passionate pursuit. My work in the renovation and construction industry required me to produce some visual content. Naturally, this quickly evolved into taking photos of more than just bathrooms. Each photograph became a puzzle piece in the mosaic of my life, people, places, things, and friends asking me to take photos of kids’ birthday parties or friends’ wedding photos, it was both fun and joy where I fit perfectly. From spending time talking to people to taking their photos to processing and sharing these moments with them I found peace and joy in the art of seeing – truly seeing – the world around me.
As an amateur photographer, I don’t pretend to be someone I’m not. There are no awards that I won, not some fancy history that links me with some big name. I’m not bound by the rules or conventions of the photography industry: instead, I embrace the freedom to experiment, to make mistakes, and to learn and grow with every photography session, whether I take photos of a wedding or family portraits. My journey is one of constant discovery, fueled by the belief that beauty can be found everywhere – if only we have the eyes to see it.
Through my lens, I strive to capture the fleeting moments that make life extraordinary – the stolen glances, the tender embraces, and the whispered secrets shared between friends, family, and co-workers. I believe that photography is more than just a medium; it’s a language, a universal form of expression that transcends barriers of culture, language, and time.
While I may be an amateur in name, my clients always feel comfortable and at ease with me. They feel themselves at the moment, which is exactly what you should always be.
Not every client is a match for me and I am not a photographer for every client.
